Top Kid-Friendly Menu Options

August 2, 2018 By twochicks

There was a time when kids stayed home with a babysitter and the parent’s headed off to the wedding. Now weddings have become a family affair. We are seeing a lot more children at weddings these days which means kid-friendly menu options are a must!

We custom design wedding menus for every couple and that does not change regarding kids menus. If you have seen any of the cooking shows on television like Master Chef Junior or Rachel Ray’s Kids Can Cook, you know kids are eating a much wider variety of foods these days.

However, we frequently guide clients to some of our most popular foods that are also suitable for the young ones. Many of our delicious comfort foods are very kid-friendly, and children ages 3-10 (and vendors) are 50% off.

One of the timeless favorites of younger wedding guests is mac and cheese. Who does not love amazing macaroni and cheese? Our ooey, gooey mac and cheese comes in a variety of delicious options. This also pairs well with our amazing and moist pulled pork.

Chicken and Waffles as an hors d’oeuvre or little bites is sure to be a crowd-pleaser regardless of your age.

Other popular dishes like our tacos and quesadillas can be a super kid-friendly menu option with some of the ingredients that might be a little spicy served on the side to add as you like.

Tips for Having a Kid Friendly Reception

Here are some other planning tips for when you are hosting a kid-friendly reception:

Always let us know how many children are attending and include them in your seating chart. Not only does it help in menu planning; but you want to make sure you allow for enough space at the guest table and to provide for booster seats and high chairs.

Smaller children are often better to be seated with their parents, while slightly older children will have more fun and entertain themselves sitting at a kids table. Including a fun centerpiece that might include age-appropriate toys and some treats is a great start. Personalized goodie bags with stickers, coloring books, and small toys will keep them engaged and are easily purchased from a local dollar store.
